attending a trade show

This package is a method for preparing, visiting, and harvesting results for trade shows.

While we've chosen Comdex as our paradigm, it will apply to many other commercial shows, large and small. Moreover, there are other kinds of trade shows that Scaramouche's method will help you with. Examples:

    Job fairs
    Hobby meetings
Academic conferences where textbook publishers promote their books

We don't know of anyone who offers full-scale training programs for visitors, but there is considerable information or advice available online.

You should read these two excellent articles:

Get the Most Out of a Trade Show

This is the most thorough one we've found

Before we go any furthur, we should tell what's required.

1) The package requires Windows 95+
2) Your system should have these common programs...
    Word for Windows
    Windows IE or Netscape Communicator
3) Alpha Five relational database manager    Click here for more about Alpha and order the program
4) Most important: this package is for persons who prefer to work in a careful, organized way
5) Recommended option: use Mind Manager to elicit and organize goals, questions to be answered, and ideas to be explored at the trade show. More about Mind Manager. For your own solitary musings, to elicit suggestions from colleagues, or to get ideas from your family, Mind Manager provides an efficient and effective intellectual tool.

First step: Under Windows Explorer, create a separate folder called "TradeShow" (all one word, without the quotes). The folder can be on any hard drive; but won’t work well on a Zip. It won’t fit on a 3.5" floppydisk, either.

Second step: To download the package, click TrdSho.exe. This goes to the folder Trade Show. The zipped package contains 197KB; its contents use 1.02 MB before you enter data.

Third step: Start>Run...TradeShow>TrdSho.exe. This will place all of its contents in the folder. You can delete TrdSho.exe. You won't need it any furthur. It will continue to be maintained in www.chez-schf.com.

Fourth step: IntroPage.doc is one of the documents in the package. Access it under Word and print it. It starts out like this web page.

Carry on.
